How to select a module
1. Rudder information and vessel mas speed required
2. It is hard to know the rudder information in the field
3. D-I offers default selections of steering system models by engine’s horsepower.
* Twin engines : Sum of engine’s horsepower
4. When you know rudder and vessel information, you calculate the rudder torque with the formula below
Rudder torque(kg.m) = Pn × r
Pn = 31.2 × A × V² + sinΘ ; Pressure of the tide applied to the rudder
Θ : Maximum rudder angle of Port/Starboard (Ex; sin35=0.5736, sin40 = 0.6458)
A = a × b (m²) ; Total surface of rudder
V ; Maximum speed of the boar in knots(Knot)
r = (0.195+0.305 × sinΘ-e) X a ; Distance between Center from rudder
e = (c × b)/(a × b) ; Balance area for entire area
